FASHION: Holland Cox

Written by

I'm an accessories designer who loves color, wild patterns, interesting textures, and unusual silhouettes. I create for people curious about discovering their own look, and willing to experiment to get there. My handbags and accessories are a perfect blend of my sewing skills, eye for mixing color and pattern, and uncanny knowledge of what's missing from your wardrobe!

Washington DC is a special place because so many people here have such serious jobs and lives packed with enormous responsibilities... those same people also have vibrant imaginations and creative souls! My favorite thing in the world is to help those people express that creativity and still be sophisticated and stylish.

I believe fashion is an art form, an outlet, and a transformative force. I've seen it and felt it first hand – wearing something you love can not only make you look fantastic, but feel invincible. The thrill I get from making things that can have such an impact will never get old for me!

My label Holland Cox was born in 2004 when I needed a way to do a few things: have the stylish accessories I wanted but couldn't find; spend my days sewing and thinking about fabric; and let my creative side out to play, that had been stifled for far too long.

Since then I've been dreaming up things to make, and ways to help other people do the same: express their creativity, and find colorful and stylish things to wear. My collection includes seven handbag styles, more than a dozen accessories, and a growing collection of sewing patterns as well. I also teach sewing and blog about fashion and personal style and how sewing relates to both. Sewing, fashion and fabric fills my life and I wouldn't have it any other way!
