Born in the quite, rolling hills of southwest Ohio, I made my way to the charge and spark of New York City in 1982 where I studied Menswear Design at The Fashion Institute of Technology. That decision and move set me on a path that continues today through my career as a designer, artist, and writer. I've been fortunate enough to travel the world, design a men’s collection, have art in shows in DC - RAW! - and NYC, and have my work included in a textile print design book. My favorite question is, "What if we tried this?" and I ask it often.
Besides this work, I also design textile prints and sell them through an agent in Holland as well as to a growing list of clients in NYC. I have technical clothing design videos on YouTube and am currently writing a design book that focuses on the use of print in clothing design. But wait, there’s more! I really dig my full time job, where I design web portals and turn tons of data into useful graphs and charts via data visualization tools and techniques.
Creating beautiful things for people to enjoy is my passion. I do this because I can't not do it. I find my voice through the extension and cooperation of digital tools such as Processing, Photoshop, Illustrator, and my trusty Olympus PEN. Lines of code and pixels dance to a universal beat that is felt more than heard. The work itself instructs me on the next moves and I listen, feel, and create within this partnership. Balance and tension tell me stories and ask for my consideration. Through this process I continue those stories and invite viewers to start a conversation with the art through their heart and emotions.
