FASHION: Lucid Allure Designs

Written by

My name is Nichole Kmett, and I am an independent jewelry designer based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota!
A little bit about me: I am mainly of mixed Anishinaabe- Leech Lake/Cass Lake Band of Ojibwe- and Swedish descent and I currently live in Robbinsdale, MN with my boyfriend of 6+ years, Shawn, and our two dogs Honey and Koda. I spend my weekdays working full time as an Administrative Assistant and am also attending Penn Foster College to earn my Interior Decorator’s degree. And in the mean time, yep, you guessed it, I love to make jewelry.

I believe I am a pretty simple person that thrives on creativity. Whether it is creating jewelry, doodling on paper, or re-designing a bedroom; I am always looking to enhance the bland and create something beautiful and inspiring out of something mundane. One day a few years back I was just looking for a new hobby, so I went to the craft store and picked up random beads, pendants, and tools and started working. At first I had no idea what the hell I was doing, but after a few sittings and some trial and error, I managed to teach myself the art. I mainly create jewelry for my personal collection but every now and then I get people coming up to me and wanting me to make them things, so I graciously oblige.  I am inspired by natural shapes found in nature, industrial edges, and Native American bead work, stones, and regalia.

I strive to create fascinating and whimsical pieces that have imagination and leave a lasting impression. To me, there is nothing more boring than a single charm on a lonesome strand of silver. I try to create these interesting pieces that are dramatic, yet refined enough to wear on any occasion. I am passionate about creating custom pieces of jewelry for individuals. I like to learn a little bit about the person I am making something for such as the kind of music they like, their personal "style" (Classic, Edgy, Girly, Modern, Boho etc.), and what they are looking for themselves in order to create a totally custom and one-of-a-kind piece that reflects them as a person.
