MUSIC: Sheeped

Written by

Sheeped is a Minneapolis-based band comprised of guitarists David Connell and Matt Raskin, vocalist Tim Germain, bassist Chuck Jaeger, drummer Ian Holmes, and percussionist Nate Ramseth, and has been described by critics as “genre-bending” and “sonically intriguing.” With each member drawing from such different and diverse influences as Umphrey’s McGee, Weezer, Doomtree, U2, Primus, Tupac Shakur, moe., and System of a Down, Sheeped blends together various styles and techniques to create their unique sound which walks the line between hip-hop, rock, reggae and funk.

Sheeped have committed themselves to embracing and exploring different methods and techniques for creating, recording, and sharing their music.  As a band, there is a continual focus on creating music that expands outside of transitional structures and blends together new and diverse sounds. Proud to call Minneapolis/St. Paul home, Sheeped finds a constant stream of stimulation and inspiration in the culture of the area and the people and artists who reside there. This is a place where creative, original and unique music is encouraged, embraced and expected, and that is what drives Sheeped forward.

In the fall of 2011, Sheeped released their first, self-titled EP, which is available for free download at sheeped.org.  Looking toward 2012, the band has a second EP slated to be released in the spring and a number of shows slated throughout the Twin Cities area.
