Tell us about yourself and how you first got started making art.
My name is Daniel V. Martinez, I am a 24 year old professional photographer, mixed media artist, photo shop wizard, wardrobe stylist, model, actor and singer. I’m what you can call a jack-of-all-trades. I am based out of Southern California as well as New Mexico and travel when needed. I grew up in the small yet beautiful town of Taos, NM. I am an outgoing and hardworking individual with endless dreams and ideas. Since I was a young kid, I have always been creative and have been striving to be a successful artist. This is my world through a looking glass.
How would you describe your aesthetic?
My work is a true reflection of myself. Be epic. Be free. I love being bold with all of my art. I completely conceptualize and execute all of my photo shoots from the wardrobe styling, hair, makeup, as well as the editing. I am constantly challenging my self to better my skills and up my game.
What do you love most about what you do?
I love always having an outlet to dive into. Whether I’m in a good mood or bad mood there is always an idea that I can create from what I feel at that moment. Being creative and always letting my imagination flow. There’s no line that I cant cross and there is so much I visually have to voice. I love hearing feedback from people that see my work.
Medium of choice?
I work with all types of formats. I love using twin reflex cameras, large format cameras, Holgas, as well as pinholes. I love being in the darkroom. I use Canon DSLR cameras when I shoot digitally. I love doing studio shoots as well as location shoots with natural lighting.
Any previous exhibitions/collaborations that you are particularly proud of?
I recently started collaborating with modeling agencies test shooting their models. I have work on agency sites such as Wilhelmina, Otto Models, Edge Models, Dulcedo Model Management, etc… Other nationally published work.
Why showcase at RAW?
This sounded like an awesome opportunity to get involved in and I am thrilled to be able to showcase my work with RAW organization. RAW is awesome.
Favorite thing to do outside of your craft?
I love being spontaneous. I am always involved in something whether it be acting, modeling, writing songs or even helping other artists out with projects and shoots. I live and breathe what I do.
