Designer Paveletta talks to us about her line of accessories and reignites our love for the pearl and "the excitement of wearing something beautiful and original." See her designs at the Se Hotel on Thursday, October 28th in Downtown San Diego!

How did you first get started designing accessories?
I grew up on the Black Sea of Eastern Europe and I spent my the majority of my adult life on the Pacific Ocean and I have a lot of love for the sea and that’s how I explain my interest in pearls and natural stones. 

Tell us about your accessories line. 
The jewelry is all handcrafted, adorned with semi-precious stones and pearls.  Pearls traditionally have been perceived as conservative maybe even mundane but there is nothing simple about this jewelry. The combination of semi-precious stones and pendants allowed me to create very vibrant and chic designs  The pearl and stone selection was carefully approached with versatility and originality in mind without compromising the quality of materials that I use. I get excited when I see my designs being worn at a wide range of times; from an afternoon cocktail party to an evening get-together.

From where do you draw inspiration for your work. 
What I’ve always been fascinated with is how a garment and/or accessory makes one feel. For centuries, fashion has been used as a tool for self expression. A garment or a small accessory addition can set a tone for your day and your mood. Color trends change with seasons and so do fabric textures and pattern styles, but the feeling of excitement of wearing something beautiful and original is always present.   

What sort of woman/individual do you have in mind when designing your line? 
I feel very fortunate to have come from a European background and to have had the opportunity to travel and meet women from all walks of life with various cultural, religious and political beliefs. They are those who inspired me to create my designs. My goal was to create a collection that combined unique but timeless styles - styles that would bring out the feminine and sexy side of every woman.
