Evan Sullivan has been a visual and performing artist for about 7 years. Fine artwork and singing were both encouraged from a small age as a form of emotional expression. When it came time to choose what path to pursue, design or musical theatre were the only options that sparked the drive for success. Fashion Design seemed right regardless of the fact that he knew nothing in terms of construction, drafting, or fabrics. In Fall 2010, he began illustrating his designs and that winter marked his first attempt at stitching. Only after the first 'dress' was finished and put on the dress-form did he understand how much more there was to learn. The following Spring, he was accepted as an intern at OKW, which ended up teaching him most of the techniques now employed in his drafting, cutting, stitching, and finishing. It was truly an eye opening, life altering experience. He then bought fabric to make himself some clothes; something unique that no one else would have in Boston. Beginning with simple silhouettes, textures, and trims, he began creating edgier fashions spontaneously, following his gut while disregarding his urge to plan out a finished piece. When people began showing interest in the new designs, he placed the clothing intended for himself on female models against the backdrop of his homeland, Maine, and thus Evan Michael Industry was born.
E: Inspired by contrast and texture, this line explores a world of primitive survival and characters. A destroyed metropolis where humans rely only on what they create sets the mood for a post-apocalyptic urban war zone. Beautifully traumatic mental and physical landscapes plague nomads as they search through dirt covered eyes for a future unconsciously disassociating from past lives and loved ones. The shredded netting destroys what is perfect while creating a new beauty in it's complete defacement while burlap and armor-like pleating engulf and protect it's chosen spirit.
