Illustration has been my passion for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I spent most of my time alone. My family lived on a dirt road in the middle of a forest, so I didn't see other people often. I kept myself entertained by drawing pictures. However, it wasn't until senior year of high school that I realized art was my fate. I enrolled in Montserrat College of Art, where I spent four years figuring out who I was, and thusly, developed my personal art style.
My work is inspired by the things that I find beautiful, intriguing, and sometimes bizarre. Reality can be so strange sometimes, but often it is quite lovely. I try to capture these fleeting moments, and present them for others to see. When I'm painting, my mind needs to be in a certain state. I try to keep my head in the clouds, for the most part, and avoid distractions from the outside world. Because of this, the soundtrack in my studio is very important. The music needs to fit the mood of the piece I am working on. Many of my paintings are also inspired by music. There are times when I will listen to one album on repeat for days, because anything else will change my state of mind, and alter the painting.
Something I hope to accomplish with my work is to create a world one can escape into. I'd like to show others these little bits of reality that are so beautiful and interesting. I hope that when people view my art, they feel what I felt when I created it. It is a magical, warm feeling, like the last days of summer, when the scent of falling leaves has just begun to flavour the air. I want to share it with everyone.
