FASHION: Jinxedaposed Clothing

Written by

Style has always been important to me because style reflects individuality, creativity and self expression. We pick out what we wear based on what color, length and drape looks good on us. My mom and grandmother taught me to sew, cut and alter patterns when I was a little girl but it was my passion for style that peaked my aspirations. At 13, a club kid and overall fashion weirdo, I knew I wanted to design clothes for people like me who wanted to dress like the couture models that graced our magazines. I wanted people to wear my style and the thought of designing clothing was always a dream of mine. Unfortunately I hit some snags along the way; homeless at 14 and a teen mom at 16, I knew I needed to get a job that would support my family, so I put my dreams on the backburner and became a Paralegal.

After a divorce and rediscovering myself, I decided to start chasing my dreams again. I designed a fundraising fashion show for roller derby, I started my own clothing line called Jinxedaposed Clothing in 2007. The road has presented itself through many awesome and bumpy ways, but it's been fun and I'm enjoying the vast opportunities it has shown me. In 2011, I came out with a transgender line named Uriel (in honor of my transgender friend that I lost) in conjunction with my regular line, as I strongly feel that fashion should be for all and custom design and tailor for transgender individuals. In 2012, I am introducing my new menswear line called Novio which in Spanish means boyfriend, I wanted to showcase a menswear line that would be stylish and comfortable for men.
