Help RAW Grow Nationwide!
RAWcross America from Def Films on Vimeo.
For a year now, RAW:natural born artists organization has been serving Southern Californian creative communities by showcasing up-and-coming artists from all artistic genres. RAW provides a platform--when others might not--for independent artists and local talents to be seen, heard, and loved. After a year of discovering and showcasing extremely talented artists in our own neighborhoods, we're positive that RAW can’t just stay in California. We want to unify artists everywhere and grow the creative community at-large. There needs to be more opportunities for underground artists to grow in cities across the country.
Our plan: 2 people. 4 wheels. 10,000 miles. A whole lot of creativity.
The RAW directors will be hitting the road, launching more RAW locations across the states, 22 locations to be exact. They will meet with independent artists in cities like your own, where we hope, if allowed the proper funding, to bring together more creative communities, nationwide.
Fundraising Opportunities
"RAWk The Boat!" | June 18th, 2010 | RMS Queen Mary
We’re going to venture a guess and go ahead and say it --The Queen Mary hasn’t been rocked this hard since its days on the seas. We promised the biggest RAW event ever, and we followed through.
On Friday, June 18th, we squeezed as much art as we could into the already-roomy Queen’s salon -- a large silent auction, an art gallery showcasing work by RAW:artists Kaleeka Bond, Cody Lusby, Gesar, Michael Pukac (who also filled our night with live painting), a full section of snazzy vendors sponsored by Graffiti Beach, all night film screenings by Mental Eclectic and live caricature art by Lefty Joe. RAW had spectacular performances by Angela Mukul, The Victors, and A Poet Nomad Ali, comedian Justin Rivera, and Collabor8 dance crew. The night was also, as always, fully outfitted with fantastic fashion shows featuring RAW:fashion designers Dane Lenon, Popavina, and Alexander Peuchot.
All who attended, supporters, and friends really made the night one of the best events we’ve ever thrown, bringing the enthusiasm for the arts. We’d like to extend our special thanks to the many RAW:artists who participated and donated their creative work as well as all who donated to our efforts.
Please continue to help support us. We figure, if each of our friends donates just five dollars to our project, we can get RAW up and running in cities across the country … of course, more will help us get there faster!
