Estephania Lopez (Nia)

Visual Art – Los Angeles

My name is Estephania Lopez or for some people Nia for short. I am a painter and artisan. Art for me has always been a hobby, an escape from reality. Most of my work is based off things I enjoy for example: skulls, elephants, mandala and Henna inspired patterns. My work is also inspired by the Far East & Mexico. I am Mexican-American and highly influenced by the Mexican Culture the bright and vibrant colors and Dia de Los Muertos (day-of-the-dead). Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera are the two artists I admire most. Being able visit their home and see their work first hand was one of the most inspiring moments of my life. I have no formal schooling/training, I am self-taught and still struggle to execute the images from my mind on to canvas but the journey is always worth the end result. I am looking forward taking classes to further develop my talent and look forward to be mentored by a great artist and hopefully become a great artist one day as well.
