Nyoka

A combination of genuine emotion and storytelling highlight Nyoka’s eclectic sound, creating a beautiful mosaic of heartbreak and triumph. The highs and lows of Nyoka’s music match her own life experience. By the time she was in 8th grade she had lost her brother to cancer, traveled between 6 different states and 2 foreign countries. Music became an outlet for Nyoka during her arduous journey. Her first public performances were belting out Whitney and Mariah tunes for her mom’s traveling karaoke business. From there it was church choir, talent shows, competitions and the like. While R&B, Soul, and Pop formed her early musical foundation, Nyoka’s High School years saw her branching out into EDM, Rock, and Classical as a member of her school’s Honor Choir.These experiences foreshadowed the unique style that is Nyoka today. On her upcoming release, Nyoka joins forces with writing and production duo SuperSmash(Sean Mitchell & Teal Douville). The trio initially came together to write and produce music for other artists. It soon became clear that they found a unique post-dubstep rock/alternative pop sound that only Nyoka can deliver. Nyoka remains hard at work preparing for upcoming shows and the release of her first EP, “Scars” set for release later this year
