Visual Art – Edmonton

Brin Steeves is a multidisciplinary visual artist and registered social worker from Edmonton, Alberta. Also known as 'Oil & Birch,' Brin is an entirely self taught artist who has been painting for over 10 years. She has established herself in the community, vending in local art walks and cafes, most recently, self-producing and co-curating 'Waves,' her own exhibition. While her primary medium is oil paint and encaustics (beeswax), she has expanded her artistry by learning wood-burning and pottery. Her practice seeks to explore the intersections of visual art, healing, and therapy. She currently works as a registered social worker with iHuman Youth Society where she advocates for youth, fights systemic injustices, and shares her therapeutic arts-based programming. Brin will soon be transitioning over to the Art Coordinator position, where she will manage and facilitate the visual art studio, lead workshops, engage young artists, and inspiring them to express their stories through a multiplicity of creative mediums.
