Visual Art – New York - Brooklyn

Kathleen Ruiz is a Chicana artist who resides in New York City. She was raised in Northern Arizona and Southern California. She loved growing up in the mountains and spent much of her time in nature. Her work is a reflection of the life she has lived and the people she cherishes. She loves to use colors, figures, and symbols to tell stories of her understanding of the world. She has traveled to over twenty countries around the world and has a passion for cultures and helping people. She lived in Botswana, Africa and worked a Refugee camp and helped build a library and taught art. Later she lived in Guanajuato, Mexico and studied Fine Art at the University of Guanajuato, Mexico. Ms. Ruiz has always had talent in painting and drawing. She has a Bachelors Degree of Fine Art with a painting Emphasis from Northern Arizona University. She is currently a working artist in NYC. She hopes to use her art as a conduit to inspire people to be creative and to help others. She has used her art to raise money for people in Africa and Mexico. Artists who have inspired Ms. Ruiz include Codie Yarbrough, Egon Shiele, Nikki Check, Kathe Kollwitz, Brian Gianelli, Bjork, Mr. Murphy, Lee Bontecou, Vincent Van Gogh and Frida Kahlo. “I want people to feel when they look at my art. I want their hearts to beat fast and I want them to feel Inspired to be passionate in whatever they do.”
