Paper Bird Studio Jewelry

Accessories – Boise

Beauty in minimalist forms… I have always enjoyed making things. I grew up in a very artistic household, with both of my parents being self-employed craftspeople. They supplied me with a variety of art making materials and opportunities to learn about many art-making techniques. I studied fine art at the University of Idaho in Moscow, ID, and I have been the Assistant Director of the Prichard Art Gallery and Gallery Store Manager since 2006. When I was an art student, I loved to spend all day in the studio painting on large canvases. Now as a mother of three small children and with my work obligation at the art gallery, my creative time is focused to take place late at night after my children are asleep. I love spending time in my studio where I hammer, snip and shape different elements to create jewelry. The hours fly by as I create jewelry for others and myself. I dedicate 2-3 hours each night in my studio, and I am always designing new pieces to add to my collections. I am a person who loves to wear jewelry. I like my earrings and necklaces to move with me in my daily routine as an enhancement rather than a distraction. All of my pieces reflect minimalism and high quality craftsmanship. I use 14K gold fill wire and chain, Sterling silver wire and chain, and up-cycled brass for my jewelry. The raw stones are primarily purchased from a local gem shop, and I love the contrast they present against the shiny metal I use. There is such satisfaction in knowing that others enjoy my jewelry. I like that in some way, my jewelry is adding beauty to the world and making people happy as they go about their day.
