Patricia Tamariz

Visual Art – Washington, D.C.

Indulge your imagination and set sail on a fantastic adventure! Patricia Tamariz is a visionary multi media Artist and Educator. After graduating college in 2003, the big wide world beckoned. She followed her heart (and a strong case of wanderlust) to New Zealand, where she discovered a passion for teaching and the transformative power of creativity. This is where she joined an educational institution on the cutting edge of fostering creativity as a mentor. In doing so, she helped other artists discover and strengthen their hidden talents and creative paths (all the while, reconnecting with her own). During these years, Patricia was also developing her own business as a Henna artist, delving deeply into her own creative explorations, and exhibiting work in galleries, museums and cafes all over the Wellington area. In the year 2007, after a 6 month trip through the wilds of Central and South America, she returned to the United States. It was at this time that she decided to concentrate on developing her own vision for a life dedicated to transformative art. So taking her life in her hands once again, Patricia embarked on the perilous journey to becoming a full time Artist. Harnessing her imagination and un-stoppable energy, she has thrived on the many challenges which have come her way. This can be seen in the creation of her brainchild, Divine Gypsy Designs, which specializes in Body Art, live painting, and those crazy wonderful accessories, Cosmic Furs. Patricia has also made black light reactive murals for festivals and nightclubs, created living art with Body Painting at galleries in Baltimore and Philadelphia. Patricia works closely with Baltimore’s very own psychedelic rock gods, Telesma, creating signature body art for the band as well as live painting during their performances. She is currently an Artist in Residence at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in Annapolis, MD. All the while she has stayed involved with the local community participating in all kinds of events everywhere and in between. Her latest adventure is at the Bryn Mawr School for Girls in Baltimore. She is the Upper School Arts teacher and committed to bringing her unique brand of energy, creativity, experience and excitement to this exceptional community of esteemed educators and students.
