Visual Art – Miami

I was born in Latvia, but when I was 14 my family moved to New York, so growing up in NYC and it's diversity in people and experiences has shaped me in many ways. After graduating from School of Visual Arts with a major in graphic design I've spent over 11 years working in fashion industry, designing graphics and textile prints for women's, men's & junior's clothing lines. At the same time I never stopped painting, with strong focus on figurative painting and portraiture, using oil paint. Last year, I quit my full time job in NY and went to live in Costa Rica. I've spent 4 magical months there - nature and its wild beauty inspired me to branch out into abstraction, which is what I've been exploring ever since. To me abstract painting is how I attempt to translate the inner movement of my Being through color, shapes and line patterns. I've experimented with using mostly acrylic paint and also pen and ink. Recently I've moved to Miami, to explore living in a new landscape, until the next adventure calls!
