Accessories – Portland

I started my professional schooling and career in commercial art and graphic design, but quickly I deduced it was not for me. Now twenty years later, via two other careers, I\'ve returned to my first loves fine art and crafting. These days I fantasize about new ways to create accessories and clothes. I\'ve combined my enjoyment of design and my sense of eco responsibility into one. I enjoy re-purposing material for my new creations. There are tons of silk, beautiful lace, and leather out there that need a new life. I am the one to give them new life. No creation is alike. It is often the find that dictates what I create. Up-cycling is the new catch phrase, but it doesn\'t have to be kitschy. Silk, lace, and or leather feels and looks luxurious even if it\'s been re-purposed. Usually I shred it, weave with it, or make completely new fabric with it. How I create lends itself to a romantic bohemian feel. Hence my shop is called Boho Americana. Silk and lace give an air of femininity to most things. Which is perfect for my aesthetic.
