Photography – Columbus

I am a senior in Ohio State\'s BFA Photo program. Music is a huge part of my life and an inspiration in nearly all my work. My main documentary subject is live music performances. I’m compelled to capture the explosive energy of these concerts, both the performers and the crowd. The most important thing in live music performances is the enthusiasm from both sides of the barricade. Recently, in addition to documentary work, I have moved onto more personal subjects and the conscious play of light. Photography is light. Different chemicals - tungsten, fluorescent, etc – when captured on camera produce specific colors. When these colors are combined in an image it can create it’s own emotion or impact the mood of a photo. Light is defined as “radiant energy, the electromagnetic radiation that is visible to the human eye, and is responsible for the sense of sight.” I see my photography as capturing a tiny part of this.
