Art is defined as the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture. A prodigy is a person, especially a young one, endowed with exceptional abilities. What happens when you combined both words? You get today’s featured artist Reni Candelier. Reni was born and raised surrounded by beaches, nature and exotic people in the Dominican Republic. She says that being raised on an island has really helped her develop a third eye for her surroundings. Reni credits Cindy Sherman as one of the biggest influences on her work. She admires the way Cindy creates stories in her pictures that can be interpreted in many dimensions depending on your sex, mood and backgrounds. Reni is also inspired by interior design and fashion. What people call their home intrigues her. Where things go and where they are placed catches her attention. Most of her pictures take place in *house environments- varying from the kitchen to the bathroom to even storage rooms.
