Visual Art – Ventura

Ray Hennessy creates photo/digital artwork based mostly on the human form and a visual tactile contradiction with an environment. It merges figures he photographs in a studio with images he’s shot all over the world. Although there is ultimately a story in his head, Ray prefers the viewer to decide the image’s meaning. These compelling and powerful visuals endeavor to beckon the viewer, no matter how fantastic or surreal the subject matter. Ray knows what things should look like... whether they exist or not. Although these images made a visit to Photoshop, they hold true to the specific laws of light, perspective and perception that must be observed to create a credible visual experience. For 26 years, Ray’s passion was seen in his role as a founding principal, creative director and designer for a very successful marketing and design firm specializing in high-end global corporate communications. Prior to that, he created original watercolor paintings exclusively for a popular Southern California gallery while simultaneously working as a technical illustrator creating \"exploded view\" drawings for everything from clocks to ice makers to wheelchairs. Ray’s history of working in traditional mediums and disciplines has given him an interesting take on things. Although creating imagery no longer abides by physical rules or limitations, Ray’s unwavering goal is to shun mediocrity and avoid predictability.
