Visual Art – Baltimore

The first art I was exposed to was comic books. I filled page after page of lined school notebooks with drawings from \"Captain America\", \"The Might Thor\", and Mad Magazine. Unfortunately, like many children, I became hyper self-critical and stopped. For years. Fortunately, after 2 enlistments in the US Navy, I returned to university and was forced to take an art class as a general education requirement. That class opened the flood gates and I\'ve never looked back. At this time, I primarily focus on woodcut prints. I love the smell of wood and the sculptural nature of carving a woodblock. I also love the fact that, although each image within an edition is quite similar, each image is unique since I can never apply ink to the block in exactly the same way or transfer the ink from the block to the paper in the exact same way. I use Japanese papers because they are both strong and thin.
