Visual Art – Melbourne

I attended art classes throughout my school years and experimented with various mediums. I then studied Fine Arts and completed a Bachelor of Design (Fashion) at Otago Polytechnic, Dunedin, New Zealand. After two years living in Melbourne I am now based in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand and pick up my paint brushes as often as possible. My paintings are inspired by the colours and textures in nature and fueled further by my imagination. Each painting I work on emerges intuitively and rarely begins with an end result in mind. I create texture on canvas or paper using various mediums and tools. I then build on this by manipulating layers of acrylic paint using brushes, palette knifes, found objects and my hands. Each painting is finished with a coat of varnish to enrich the colours and protect the surface. Expressing myself creatively is second nature to me. I have been painting, drawing and taking photos since I can remember. When I immerse myself in my studio it is an escape from the everyday.
