Visual Art – Portland

I have recently taken up drawing and painting.I am trained as a Clincal Laboratory Scientist, but that has not always been a good fit for my personality. So last fall I decided to take art seriously and it has been a life changing experience. I have found it to be a great way to express myself and it feels like I am speaking my native language. I was inspired to see the Picasso exhibit. Picasso put the language of art in it's emperical form. I have also had the privelage to see one VanGogh. It was his self portrait in a straw hat. It is very simple with a few strokees of paint as a background. He didn't even mix his colors, he just put them next to each other. But when I looked at the painting, VanGogh himself was glaring back at me. That is what I want to do with my art. I know I will have succeded hen my work has that kind of impact.
