Sesen Meskel

My family migrated to America from Eritrea, a small 3rd world country after fighting a revolutionary war, and before my existence was ever considered. My name is Sesen Meskel a 25 year old Hair and Make-Up artist. I grew up in a very happy, but sheltered home. Leaving my home to pursue a bachelors in Criminal Justice at the University Of Arizona at the age of 18 made my parents so proud. After 2 years in to my program I realized how unhappy my life was. Not pursuing my own dreams but the dreams of my parents. After careful consideration and conversation with my peers they pushed me to fulfill my own dreams of becoming a hair and makeup artist and apply my skills to a cosmetology program. Now, the decision to put my Bachelors program on hold and apply myself to Empire is something that was not approved of by my parents. So I waited, I waited until I became 24 so I can file my own taxes and receive financial aid to put myself through cosmetology school. My passion for fashion, trends, beauty and the whole cosmetology field comes from the ability to give someone the confidence to step out of my chair and feel the best they have ever felt. My two year plans also include giving back to the community in a positive way with hosting and teaching seminars of confidence and inner beauty. To begin living the life you were held back from for so many years is a beautiful thing.
