Shannon Sebastian

Visual Art – Tulsa

For Tulsa\'s rising star Shannon Sebastian, artistic ability and passion for the arts have always come naturally. Born in 1975 in the beautiful desert of New Mexico, he found inspiration daily in the dramatic landscapes and the rich culture of the area. Influenced by realism and the abstract genre, he pursued his dream and studied art at the University of New Mexico. Shannon found overwhelming inspiration in local artist Steve Hanks, who shared his experience from the California College of Arts and Crafts. From his early use of resins to his use of watercolors, Steve\'s influence and talent played a part in shaping Shannon\'s technique. Shannon moved to Tulsa in 2005, where he immediately became involved in the local art scene. He balances his art with raising his three children, who are the focus of his life and an ongoing inspiration. Shannon\'s philosophy on life parallels that of his art: pure, simple, and colorful. Shannon\'s primary focus has been on the abstract, with his love of nature and the simplicity of raw materials being prevalent in each piece of his work. It\'s important to Shannon that people understand what drives him to create, and that you feel his passion and heart in every painting.
