Photography – San Francisco

Growing up in a family of 5 with a single mother, it was never really an option to have options. We grew up in the rough streets of the Bay View and Mission District of San Francisco. Mom did her best to make sure we had all we needed, but the extras were just something we learned to forget about. I moved a lot as a kid, so making friends and getting into activities that I could keep up with seemed to be quite a challenge. Changing homes, changing schools, changing friends, changing activities became the norm for me. As I grew up finding a focus and realizing what I loved had been a challenge. Living life in survival mode had me clouded in realizing that there are so many options available to me that I had never opened myself up to. Straight out of high school I got a job and then another and then another and never went to college; until I found myself caught up in the rat race without much to show for. For me, life is about passion and living on purpose...I had not been doing that. Somehow I was caught in survival mode since childhood and never broke free. Finally, there was a day I started to dig deep and search for what could make me happy...I found photography 5 years ago and I refuse to let go.
