With a classic and contemporary dance background spanning more than 20 years, Jolie Roberson blends tribal belly dance with hip-hop, ballet, and everything in between. With every move, she strives to strengthen the audience’s connection with the music while demonstrating the elegant, earthy, and sensual movement of tribal belly dance. Jolie’s innate understanding of theatrics and detailed costuming elevates her performance from pure movement to passionate expression that takes the audience on a journey. Her showmanship and unique perspective on tribal fusion belly dance has made her an integral part of not only the belly dance scene, but also the burlesque, theater, and club circuits in Chicago. Jolie teaches and performs nationwide as a soloist and with Chicago’s premier tribal belly dance group, Read My Hips, as well as various dance and burlesque groups and live bands. She currently resides in Tucson, AZ, but regularly travels to the west coast and midwest to perform and teach.
