Art has been a part of me since I can remember. During my childhood I made a canvas out of everything, even the walls of my house were used for my artistic expressions. I had a preference using pastels, dry pastels in particular. After using them on paper I wet them and used them as lipsticks--they made colorful matte lip paints (do not try this at home). In my adolescent years I got the “Making Faces” book by Kevin Aucoin. The images of the book are still vivid in my mind. I tried applying his techniques on my own face with the very limited makeup resources a 16 year-old girl could have--I even used oil painting brushes we had at home to contour my nose. Growing up I had the opportunity to do modeling and participated in beauty pageants; these experiences exposed me to well known makeup artists that did my makeup for runaways, photography and TV. I learned a lot about makeup application during that period. I have a bachelor\'s degree in Business Administration, and I am the owner of Sofistique Makeup. I work as a freelance makeup artist and also do makeup tutorials. In my free time I love recreating facecharts (done by other artists) or doing artistic makeup. Doing makeup is my way of doing art in a three-dimensional canvas.
