star*lite analog photography

Photography – New York - NYC

In a culture where the photograph has saturated our minds, where digital cameras and instant satisfaction (or rejection) is just an automatic setting and a button-press away, I prefer to work the old-fashioned way. Capturing time on film is a lesson in patience, practice and skill. The moment captured is reflected in my technique. I do not bracket shots. Either I am right, and I get the shot, or I am incorrect, and I miss that moment forever. Spontaneity is lost by repetition; life does not allow do-overs. My tools are analog: Polaroid Land Cameras, 1940′s era Twin Lens Reflex cameras, Kodak Brownies, and the workhorse manual 35mms. I trust the ‘obsolete’ flashbulb and my expertise with wire, tape and solder to give my images the timeless feel I am seeking.
