Visual Art – Los Angeles

Hi! My name is Michelle Chabot I am a So Cal native..born and raised here. My weapon: A Brush My Ammo: Oil Paint My Victims: Everything So..where do I start....ok Ill go back 20 years or so. I've had a love of art since high school and I encouraged that love by taking different art classes in college discovering different styles trying to find my place. I discovered how painting was therapeutic for me and a form of meditation. It's very easy to get lost in a painting during creativeness. There was a guy in one of my art classes who brought an amazing painting to class and it was representational of cubism and I was in awe of the beauty in it. That's when I thought "I want to be that good one day". It made a huge impression on me as well as hundreds of other paintings since. I can't say I like one artist or another because I have such a wide spectrum of the styles I appreciate from impressionism to lowbrow. I appreciate the technical aspect behind these paintings. The strokes of paint, or the lack of, draw in you and take you on a journey the way the colors grab you and the mystery behind each painting. When I gained more skill the creativity was able flow and I brought to life a style I have always wanted to. Its a spin off of cubism with a modern feel. I like to incorporate movement and emotion in my paintings. I find inspiration in anything that moves my soul, lifts my spirit and pulls me in. Flowing the paint on the canvas and it growing into something tangible and beautiful is the most fulfilling part. It's the act of creating something from nothing that amazes me beyond belief. This is one of the styles I have always wanted to conquer and there will be more to come. I have so much more painting to do, more styles to be achieved and creativity to experience! I currently teach art which keeps my inspiration burning bright as well as my son reminds me to stay young at heart and to follow my dreams. I will be participating in the Dia De Los Muertos Festival this year at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. You can check out all my art at www.michellechabot.com.
