I enjoy using traditional fiber techniques in new and different ways. Recently I have become more attracted to the deconstruction of fibers. My most recent work focuses on this expulsion approach, and the merging of different materials to enhance the distorted hues left behind. In the search for my own voice I have created a unique, distressed body of work uniting raw and organic form with synthetic materials. Warp refers to the threads which run lengthwise in a woven fabric, but that term can also refer to the turn from our natural or true direction - the distortion from truth, and the discovery of what lies beneath. I feel the technical processes used in my work relates to the relationship we have with ourselves. By looking beyond the surface, stripping down our layers and searching within, we can find our true colors.
