Visual Art – Boulder

I am a charcoal artist in Boulder, CO. I\'m orignially from Ft. Collins, CO but came to Boulder 9 years ago to attend CU and earn a Bachelor\'s in Environmental Design. I\'ve been drawing all of my life and have experimented with different mediums. My love affair with charcoals started in high school when I realized I\'m bad with color and paint is expensive. Charcoal has allowed me to develop my own style that involves high contrast and layers of fine texture. I do a lot of photorealism and gestural pieces. I also like to do surrealism with spiritually profound concepts. My favorite thing about my art is the tiny textural moments I create in the detail. Art has always been a way for me to escape a certain anxiety and focus on one square inch of paper at a time. I consider myself an active person and love to be out in the mountains hiking or snowboarding. Currently I am a woodworker pursuing a career in furniture design. When I\'m not in the woodshop I enjoy gardening, snowboarding, hiking and drinking a great IPA.
