Visual Art – Raleigh

Sudie is a visual artist, sculptor, author, illustrator and publisher. Born and raised in Washington, DC, she currently resides in Hillsborough, NC. Sudie received her BFA in painting from Boston University and her MFA in Painting from the University of Arizona. Being an animal activist and feminist, her artwork flows from what moves her and from where she finds beauty: women, animals, the earth, color, pattern and light. Sudie’s art represents the deep connection she feels with these elements. Her work includes pen and ink drawings, papier-mâché sculptures, vessels, and 3-dimensional oil on canvas paintings featuring women and animals. These works are created on a free form canvas and involve papier-mâché sculpture, beadwork, and mixed media. “Art is where I go for refuge, replenishing, and how I pay homage to what sustains me.”
