I want to emulate the human’s natural response and connection with the earth. I have developed a push and pull relationship with my medium, I let the medium move in the direction it wants to and I then respond. Water based mediums and multiple layers are continuous throughout my work. My work can be described as capturing a moment of organic nature and interpreting that second in time through my process. Reticulation is consistent throughout my work and I am very interested in organic movement. I gather high speed photography images of water splashes, a violent explosion of energy that we witness countless times a day. Slowing down and taking time to analyze and interpret this tiny moment attracts me. The abstract images that I pull from researching and capturing these moments are ambiguous. The viewer may see images from life, within my abstraction; I welcome any and all interpretation. After all the reflection of real life is consistent with water’s physical qualities, nature will always interpret itself over and over again. What I have to say about the work is not the end of what the work can mean, I am more interested in the viewer’s individual experience while with the work. My goal as an artist is to develop a natural connection between the viewer and the paintings whether they can articulate why they have this connection or not.
