Visual Art – San Francisco

Printmaking is an art form where I can actively move through different physical processes, to prepare and execute a print. I may spend long hours working on one surface, but have the immediate connection to drawing and painting transformed with the printing press. I enjoy stone lithography, a medium that requires physical labor, repeating tasks until preparation becomes natural and even tranquil, but is still subject to changes in the resulting image. I have a relationship to the surface during the creative process, using waxy crayons, deep black ink and sharp knife blades on the smooth stone. The print on paper is the residue of a process once the work becomes meditative, as my drawings turn from an impression, the outward nature, to improvising the inner character.
