Visual Art – Chicago
I have always had a love for creating things. I have a background in drawing and painting that goes back to my childhood. I took after-school classes from age 7 to 14 and in high school was lucky to have a spunky and encouraging art teacher who pushed me to challenge myself. She chose me to create a piece of art for a neighborhood icon and even convinced me to submit a piece in my very first art show. I went on to receive my associates degree in art but struggled to convince myself that I could actually make a living that way, so I instead pushed to move forward with my job in the banking industry. Although I have wonderful co-workers and enjoy helping customers solve their financial issues, I've never truly felt like I was on the right career path. Within the last couple of years I've rediscovered my love for creating art and have since gone part-time at my job to pursue a career as an artist. I have a thorough background in a classic, more realistic style of painting but have been experimenting with new painting styles for the last year. I am having so much fun testing my abilities and challenging myself. I can't wait to share my artwork with you!
