Visual Art – Connecticut

I have somehow become a watercolor painter, but I am rather enjoying the challenges it presents. Each painting is an experiment and learning process. I am a graduate of SCSU with a BS in Fine Arts and a specialization in Printmaking. Not a day goes by that I wish I had the space and tools to do lithography. I studied in Paris for July of 2011, which refreshed my artistic style and outlook on life. I love to create unique pieces that both demand the audience to admire aesthetics and reflect on exactly what/where my subjects are. I mainly work with natural elements such as plants and marine life to produce spaces that are ambiguous, somewhat unsettling, and glorious. It is fantasy and reality colliding within the same piece. It is not uncommon for me to draw from real specimens using traditional biological illustration techniques within my works. I feel most comfortable pulling from reference, but am lately testing myself to really break out of that mindset and tap into other parts of my creative brain.
