I fell down the rabbit hole sometime in 2008 or 2009 I think, when I started helping a couple of friends who had started a cosmetics business. Even though I\'ve always loved being creative and making things by hand, I never had considered formulating cosmetics, so I was a little surprised to find out how much I loved it. I launched my own brand, The Chequered Lily Apothecary, in 2010.
Making color cosmetics has given me the opportunity to explore working in pure color like no other medium could. Like most other artists, I love to walk the line between reality and fantasy, and makeup by its very nature is transformative; an effortless way to create mystery and drama. Makeup frees us to become whomever or whatever we choose, and I\'m happy to be a part of that process.
I find it very rewarding to create products that people can actually use, whether it\'s a highlight eye shadow for everyday use or a once-in-a-lifetime color for a costume party. I specialize in strange and unique colors and am especially known for my duochrome and glitter finish eye shadows.
