Tiny Hands

Hi Kirsten, Chloe and other RAW judges and members! I\'m Mei! I established Tiny Hands in 2006 where I make jewelry that is youthful, sweet and feminine. Based in Minnesota, I innovate a whole new world with my Tiny Hands by combining both my love of food and jewelry to create tantalizing scented food accessories that smell just like they look! Maple syrup scented waffles, anyone? I have a wonderful relationship with jewelry but I have to admit that it wasn\'t always monogamous. Secretly, I hold a bachelor\'s degree in mathematics and a love for numbers and symmetry. However, I grew up adoring art and its ability to invoke emotion. Like many lifelong passions, my fond relationship with jewelry began when I was a child. My mother would adorn me with colourful necklaces, bracelets and hairpins and would dress me up like a princess. Both my parents were also very supportive of my creative learning as a child and had always encouraged me to explore different artistic disciplines. All my charm components are hand molded from scratch from polymer clay. Off the shelves, polymer clay comes in many different square blocks of colors. Somewhat of a perfectionist, I strive for the highest attention to detail in my workmanship and jewelry designs and have spent many hundreds of hours testing, researching and learning from trial and error the techniques that work best to create the cutest, sweetest looking food jewelry with my medium. Here is a summary of what I talk about: 1) I\'m a learner at heart and I always seek to educate myself with information that can help my business grow. I apply what I learn well and I am aware that it takes more than a great product to form a sustainable business - we\'ll also need to know how to market to the masses. 2) As small business owners, we have the power and responsibility to give back and help our communities. Since taking my business to a full-time career in January 2011, I now have 2 contractors that help me build my business. I\'d like to keep building my team! 3) My scented jewelry line is not just another trend. I\'ve been in business for 6 years and it\'s been growing slowly.
