Tiffany Howell
Visual Art – Nashville
I recieved a BFA in advertising art from Lipscomb University, and had the
good fortune afterward to spend almost a year in Germany. This opened my
eyes to the depth of beauty in this world. Over the years in my career as a
designer, I have been drawn to clean, classic design that lets the content speak
for itself without needlessly being flashy. This translated in event planning as well,
and I developed a style I dubbed, \"Elegantly Simple\". Still feeling the restlessness
within me to be creative, I started making jewelry, took classes in stained glass, and
began creating custom albums for friends and family. It was with this venture that I
started to see my work gain momentum. I got the joy of creating something unique
and personal and sharing that with those that shared my vision. I loved taking
pieces and parts of something-an idea, a layout-and making it sing visually. I
gained confidence as a designer, an event planner, a craftsperson.. but being an
\"Artist\", with a capital \"A\" seemed too big a mountain I felt fit to climb.
Then, out of sheer necessity to listen to the creative voice within me, shouting to
get out, I picked up the brush and started my Artistic walk again. This time, I am
more forgiving of myself, enjoying the fluidity of motion with every stroke on the
page or canvas. Now I see the process of making Art as important, if not more so,
than the final masterpiece I may create.
I hope others will enjoy the journey with me.
