Tom Matthews

In 2007 I graduated with a BFA in painting/printmaking from Tyler School of Art of Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. Then I got lost in a time warp and I fortuitously landed in Portland in October 2011. I have recently rediscovering my interest in oil painting. I'm currently working on a series of minimalistic, unpopulated landscapes from my many travels across the USA, focusing on isolation, loneliness and independence. Each work in this series is 8" x 8", so the challenge for each one was to convey an epic scale on a relatively tiny canvas. Some succeed at this more than others.
