Tracey Tomtene Photography

Photography – Vancouver

Tracey Tomtene grew up and has lived in various parts of Western Canada and has also made temporary homes abroad in the UK and NZ. Although she studied business in university, it was a black and white darkroom photography course that would reveal her craft. After working in the corporate world for several years, she finally began her journey as a full time photographer by quitting her day job as a Communications Manager and traveling through SE Asia and NZ in 2008. Since her return, she has continued to shoot travel, street, wedding, portrait and commercial photography, developing a prolific style in her imagery that captivates and evokes emotion. She also hand transfers much of her travel imagery onto sustainable wood blocks and into jewelry settings which can be found locally at markets in Vancouver and at http://www.huggerofseas.com. She has been a monthly contributor to Greenpeace for 8 years and very active in supporting marine environmental groups like Sea Shepherd and Fin Free. Everything she uses to make, sell and ship her products is done with the environment in mind. When she isn’t photographing or makin’ stuff, she is torturing herself in a Bikram yoga studio, getting her toes salty along one of Vancouver’s magnificent coastlines or visiting far off lands (where she feels most at home).
