Born in Baltimore, MD, November 22, 1985, TJ Bates, who also goes by TranceBates, is a artist that blends positive and negative space into an abstract composition. His main medium of art so far is sharpie. His style, although not particularly influenced by one artist, is a combination of artists who have used sharpie to create their works as well as graphic designers. To gain an understanding of his style one must go back to his college years to really see where he fell in love with the use of black, white and shapes of organic and mechanic nature.
