Fashion – Raleigh

I grew up in Raleigh, NC, and recently graduated from North Carolina State University in May 2012. I double majored in Art+Design and Textile Technology (BAD,BS). Earning two degrees has allowed me to explore my wide range of interests- art, textile design, fiber techniques, construction and design. I love experimenting and think of fashion as art on the body. My work on the body combines traditional textile techniques with unconventional materials. At NCSU, I designed collections for the Art to Wear fashion show three years. This experience taught me to develop a sustainable design process, and shaped my view of fashion as a fusion of creavitiy and technique. I had many other wonderful experiences in college, such as travelling abroad. I was able to take a surface design studio course in Prague, CZ, and also spent a summer studying woven jacquard design at the Lisio Foundation in Florence, IT. Learning from other cultures and influences has informed my work in new ways, and continues to inspire me.
