About
| Photographer Kat Kaye is a visual artist whose work captures the paradoxical nature of life - the joie de vivre and the pain.
Being a first-generation American with Iranian parents, Kat has had to blend two cultures which are often diametrically opposed. Her conflicting upbringing makes for the contrast one finds in her photography. Kat's unique vision combined with her perceptual acuity and skill makes for images that capture viewers, drawing them into a surreal world where dreams and nightmares are given form. Kat graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. Shortly after graduating, she was involved with film production while interning at One Productions in San Diego. After a one year stint in a corporate position, Kat invested the entirety of her bank accounts into her photo equipment and decided to pursue photography as a career with only just a few months experience. Kat has studied the wet plate collodion process under Allan Barnes and was hand selected to participate in the 2008 SoCal JACC conference under the category of Wild Art. She currently resides in Los Angeles and operates from her studio in the San Fernando Valley. |
