| Jayelle Couture was birthed by Fashion Designer LaQuita Houston in January of 2005. The collection represents the essence of LaQuita’s spiritual roots and southern upbringing. Grounded in family, faith and unwavering passion for music and fashion, she celebrates her lifestyle in her collection that creates fresh elegance, whimsical sophistication in a contemporary couture style.
Born in Lubbock, Texas in 1983, the daughter of LueJennie Houston, an artist, LaQuita often found her self preoccupied with designing for her dolls to reconstructing her finest pair of jeans. Although, it wasn’t her dream to become a fashion designer, her initial grand ambitions were to make her mother proud as a doctor, lawyer, and/or architect. But at the age of 14, LaQuita had an opportunity to visit Art Institute in Dallas, Texas, which gave her a taste of the fashion world. Upon graduating high school, LaQuita made her plan to move to Tampa, Florida where she attended the International Academy of Design & Technology. Three years later she graduated with a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts then continued to pursue her desires as a fashion designer and moved to Los Angeles were she currently resides. Patiently, LaQuita built her label Jayelle Couture, fka Soultress Designs, seven years later she is still going strong and remains inspired by scripture:. Proverbs 31:31 she is clothed with strength and dignity LaQuita’s vision of love, faith and family defines how she creates women’s fashion. By pairing southern chic with a couture flare and bold fabrication, she has grown from working various independent local fashion shows, church fashion circuits to designing for red carpet events and landing celeb clientele. Jayelle Couture is LaQuita’s destiny and expression of her love for women’s sass and class.
