About the artists

Jeff Sherman and Lila Fulton are both Southern California natives, who have grown up in and around the LA area.
They're influenced by the ocean and their love of the sandy beach. They spend their time between Laguna Beach California and Palm Springs California where they have an art studio.
In 1994 they were commissioned to do a mermaid mural in Laguna Beach on a private home seawall.
After a 21 year career as a massage therapist, sculpting bodies in the sand was quite natural and easy for Jeff.
Lila is a gift basket designer and also a fine artist. Jeff sculpts the bodies while Lila sculpts the finer details. Together they’re a wonderful team.
In 1996 they entered their first contest in Newport Beach Sand Sculpting competition, Corona del Mar, and won best of show. Since then they have twice placed second in the US nationals. You could say it's difficult for them to be on the sand and not sculpt.

All the sculptures are made with only sand and water, the color is food coloring mixed with water, done as the final process. “We take all the photos ourselves, and the images appear as we have sculpted them. Very little Photoshop has been done.
And now we present to you our mermaid collection, of fine prints on canvas, custom framed and also gallery wrapped, note cards, postcards, mouse pads, woven blankets, and calendars. We hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed creating them.â€
