Fashion – San Francisco

I started developing my passion for design and fashion when I was 6 and when my grandmother decided that I was big enough to learn how to sew; very soon I put away my dolls and started to create… Originally from Moldova, my family traveled a lot, and in each country I was fascinated by new textiles and crafts and I was trying to learn all the techniques that I was discovering. This way I learned Georgian weaving, Romanian embroidery and Point lace, Russian knit and crochet, Moldovan tapestry and macrame, French Bobbin lace and Crazy Patchwork… Self-taught designer, I created my first award-winning crocheted collection that was exposed in Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, UK and France. My dream came true, my passion brought me to Paris, where I decided to study fashion at ESMOD – renowned fashion school, which I successfully graduated with Master’s degree in creative pattern making and draping. During my internships at couture houses in Paris I learned some more interesting techniques such as Luneville crochet embroidery, beading and working with fur. In my creations I like to mix organic and non-organic materials, so I put silk, wool, feathers and fur together with plastic and metallic sequins, glass beads and crystals. Today I would like to present my new bridal collection “Winter in Paris” where each dress has its particular meaning: AVALANCHE – a gorgeous mermaid skirt with a train. Intricate smocking at the bottom of the skirt is embroidered with rhinestones and looks like snow that has just slid off the mountain; it looks like falling snow when it moves! EARLY MORNING – an elegant short wedding dress: beaded lace is the frost that appears on windows during cold nights, and the feathers are the soft and gentle touch of the snow. EIFFEL TOWER – a black crocheted dress on white base, fully embroidered with black and golden sequins and beads – it sparkles just like the Eiffel Tower at night. MONT BLANC – a short dress with a long removable skirt. Each pickup is embroidered with rhinestones and soft chiffon flowers are at the bottom of the skirt. Perfect to surprise the groom and party guests – just take the skirt off after the ceremony and dance! WALKING IN THE AIR – it also a transformable dress, here pictured without its skirt. Bubble shape of the dress gives it a look of a cloud, the handmade kanzashi flowers adorned with fathers and rhinestones are the snowflakes floating in the moonlit sky.
