Shannon Dougherty

Though drawn to all types of art, and artists, I didn\'t understand my own artistic abilities until I was in my mid 20\'s. Craving a creative outlet, I felt a calling to pick up a paint brush and give it a whirl. It was as if the missing part of my being had been found. I continued dabbling for a while... painting here and there. Yet never really feeling as if what I had in my mind\'s eye was being fully realized on canvas. So I began taking classes, and was astounded at how quickly I progressed. Almost immediately I discovered my love for soft pastels, and that remains my favorite medium to create nature pieces, as I feel it captures the detail more realistically. There is sentiment in all of my work, as there are traces of my heart and soul in every piece I do.
